Lanyards are often used at events, conferences and in the workplace. They are perfect for keeping small items safe or for displaying identification badges. Ordering lanyards for the first time can be very confusing. With so many styles available, it can be difficult to know which is the best one for your needs.
When choosing your lanyards, you will need to think about the purpose of the lanyard. If you are giving them away as freebies, the lanyards should be branded with your logo. If you are looking for a cheap way to display an ID card, you might not need any branding at all. Choosing between plain, woven and printed lanyards is the first step.
All our lanyards come in three standard widths of 10mm 15mm and 20mm. The width of the lanyard is very important for the design process. We recommend getting in touch if you aren’t sure which lanyard size is right for you. You will also need to choose the attachments and safety features. In this guide, we will explore some of the different lanyard styles available and what they are most commonly used for.
WHAT DIFFERENT STYLES OF LANYARDS ARE THERE?
There are many different styles of lanyards to suit all budgets and requirements. From plain colour lanyards to full colour printed lanyards. They are also made from a range of materials, including cotton, polyester and recycled plastic. These are some of the most popular lanyard styles:
PLAIN LANYARDS
Our plain lanyards are available in a range of colours, so you can pick the one that suits your company or event branding. A plain black lanyard looks discreet and professional, while bright yellow lanyards can be used to draw attention to the wearer. Plain lanyards are made from twill cotton cord, which looks like a thick shoelace. This strong design makes them very hard-wearing and long-lasting.
WOVEN AND PRINTED LANYARDS
If you want to add your company logo, text or event name to your lanyard, you could choose a woven or printed lanyard. With a woven lanyard, your design is embroidered into the fabric of the lanyard. These are usually made from cotton or polyester threads. With a printed lanyard, the design is screen printed onto one or both sides of the lanyard. With these custom lanyards, you can choose up to three colours for screen printing. These are available on cotton, polyester or eco-friendly bamboo material.
FULL-COLOUR LANYARDS
For more detailed design work, a full-colour lanyard is the best option. This type of lanyard is printed using a process known as dye sublimation. This allows for almost photo-quality printing onto polyester or PET. PET is made from recycled plastic bottles, which makes it the ideal choice for sustainable businesses and events.
CHOOSING YOUR LANYARD ATTACHMENTS
Our lanyards are available with safety features and many added extras. They come with a lobster claw clip on the bottom as standard, allowing you to attach items such as an ID badge holder. You could also choose a J clip or a bulldog clip, depending on what you plan to use the lanyard for. You could even turn your lanyard into the perfect giveaway item by adding a bottle opener. This sits above the clip, so the wearer can still use it to display their name badge.
EXPRESS LANYARDS
